Your agreement decides how to cancel
Anytime Fitness says: "All cancellation policies are outlined in the membership agreement for each location. The agreement covers the cost to cancel, how to cancel and more information on any additional termination fees." Read it first.
Then contact your home club: the club you joined or transferred to. Not corporate, and not ABC Financial (the billing company), which cannot cancel your membership.
In person or by letter
Many clubs are staffed only part of the day, so plan an in-person visit during staffed hours.
If your agreement allows written notice, send a letter to your home club by Certified Mail with a return receipt. Note that a club with few staffed hours may take longer to sign for it.
Contracts and auto-renewal
Some clubs sell 6, 12 or 18-month terms, and cancelling inside the term can mean a termination fee or buyout. Anytime Fitness says automatic renewal at the end of a term applies "only if you opted-in" by initialing it in your agreement, so check whether your term has simply ended.
If you transferred to another club (transfers must be more than 10 miles), the new club holds your membership.
A free letter you can use
We wrote a plain, polite Anytime Fitness cancellation letter template. Copy it, fill in your details, and send it yourself by Certified Mail with a return receipt. Or sign it on your phone and let us print and mail it for you, with tracking and a proof pack.
